my blog is finally live.
The fear of you moving in the unknown is almost always better than living in regret.
Hello, world.
It’s been a while since I have been pushing out content over here, and I’m happy to announce that I’m finally done with the website!
It isn’t as polished as my perfectionist persona would have liked. I’ll be bringing gradual changes to the site, but first, let me load up the content accordingly from all the sites that I have. Namely, Substack, Wordpress and my previous Linktree-like website.
It’s still a work under construction as you can see with a lot of unformatted and poorly edited posts, but I’m consistently making edits here and there in every single part of the website. With the main highlights being my blog posts that I’ve made over the past year.
Life’s been going hectic despite me still not being in university, and I always have this feeling that I can do better. That I can achieve more. But I think not burning out is the smarter move that I can make instead of always thinking that I am inadequate and that I am lagging behind of some arbitrary number or milestone that no one gave me, but more importantly, something that I haven’t given to myself.
I’m currently in a phase of my life where it’s transitory. I’m going through a lot of things, and I’m not someone who is going to differentiate myself from others by saying that I’m a special snowflake who has struggles that only I can endure. That cannot be the case.
Rather it is the natural course of life: to feel overwhelmed and confused about all the things that are going on in your life as of the moment. And honestly, I’m all in for it. Because I think embracing uncertainty is the thing that is going to be a superpower going forward. Uncertainty is something a lot of people are scared of, and sometimes letting it linger in your life is the best thing that you can be doing.
You’re used to others giving you your certainty.
Schools give you a yearly roadmap on what to study. Jobs give you what tasks to do during your tenure. Society advises on you on what you should do next, despite having no idea what they are doing themselves.
I was pretty uncertain about this blog too.
I started first writing on Substack, then moved onto WordPress, until I finally decided on my own website, and starting all of it from zero, so that I can make this the destination that contains everything about me.
All of this took me a year to realize, and then actualize. And if you had told 2025 Kaifi that he would have his own website by 2026, and that he would be doing all of it with minimal help, he wouldn’t believe you.
If I go even before that, I’ve been dreaming to have my own blog since 2020. It was a surplus of planning, a dearth of inaction, an absence of giving myself permission, and endless procrastination that made me feel like I wasn’t fit for actually creating the website. I didn’t even think I was able to create blogposts like this, heck, even write in the first place just how a writer would.
Little did the previous Kaifi know that he didn’t NEED anyone’s permission. I was 16 when this first came to my mind, and ………………..
Below lay all of my previous attempts to create a blog, and the blogposts I tried writing as a result. It’s pretty messy, but hang on with it! :)
edit: october 5, 2026
i just found a note from my previous diary that i made on 4 july, 2021 which was basically outlining how this blog might turn out to be in the first place.

prost! to more posts in the future whilst writing with back pain have a blessed day x
p.s. so this is attempt #5, the above text is from previous tries, regardless.
we did it. we are so fuckin’ back.
throwback to jekyll.
note: 1 aug, 2026.
in a previous attempt in creating my blog and failing miserably, this was the supposed-to-be the first post of them all. i tried creating a blog in jekyll, before i switched to hugo, and i was solely following this helpful guide and yes, i did successfully create a blog with that and hosted it on github pages. but i still thought something needed to be better. i understood that there must be a cleaner way, a much more simpler, and lightweight way. hugo was the answer, but i’m still grateful to lola for inspiring me to take the much simpler way of using a static website to create my blog!

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
this is a completely self-made blog powered by jekyll, my linux machine, and the lovely github pages. super minimal, super simplistic. and i think that’s the way it should be from now onwards.
can’t function, i’m fed up with this nonsense lotta shit, and it’s weighin’ on my conscience, oh
that’s an excerpt from conscience, a tracak from the rapper Gunna. and that’s exactly what made me make this website.
i was suspended again on the blog that i was writing, this time on wordpress. before, it was substack. and now, it’s this.
i’ve decided enough is enough, and i’m not letting another platform suspend me, even if temporarily. it’s ridiculous and each time, there hasn’t been a good reason to deplatform me.
it isn’t a big deal, but the website being down for an indefinite amount of time, while lacking the bare minimum respect of letting me know in advance, or even notifying me about the suspension, that isn’t going to cut it for me.
jekyll is the second ruby related project that i have laid my hands on. maybe i might learn ruby someday. the first was homebrew, and i can’t say how much i love homebrew. it’s an amazing piece of software.
this is the message i want to leave the ones who are reading this: your words and actions have more impact than you think they have. everything you’ve ever wanted was on the other side of fear. and of course, the fear of you moving in the unknown is almost always better than living in regret.
i’ve got a lot of exciting stuff coming up. In Sha Allah, you will be the first to see all of them!

adpated from the jekyll-is-not-for-me.md file, file creation date unknown
This was an attempt at creating a very simplistic blog website using GitHub Pages and Jekyll, and honestly I saw potential in creating this.
My inspiration for making this one is heylo.la and she does an amazing job at explaining all the nitty gritty details of it all! I’d highly suggest you to try it out if you want to setup a blog in the simplest way possible!
I’m a somewhat idealistic person (I try to be one, but to be human is to err) and thus have decided that using Ruby, Jekyll, and all this isn’t for me, given I know how heavy Ruby is and that I know I won’t be using Jekyll for the foreseeing future. The build processes sound and feel clunky to me (albeit super intuitive and simple) especially since you have to do the build process after every edit or post that you might make.
It’s not exactly the end of the world if I don’t learn it or continue with it, and maybe I will at a later date if needed. But not now. Now, I feel like being idealistic for some reason.
So going solo, with a solo domain, with a hard, hand coded website (no AI!) and of course with a much more authentic taste and feel of who I really am.
Let’s see how long this sticks. I’m excited.
Also, I wasn’t able to find HOW to publish new posts despite doing everything by hand and according to the rules. Or maybe I just forgot to do a few steps in between :P
Regardless, that led me to the creation of this website. And although it took a while to find the perfect URL (the multiple months of contemplation, searching for the best TLDs, revisiting my older self and thinking what he would have done, asking friends and family, and then finally running a poll on the Fedi for getting it done..)
Yeah. I’ve been there. And I’m more than happy to create this. Because why not?
